WICHITA, Kan. – Three more Wichita State baseball student-athletes were drafted during the final day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

A.J. Ladwig was drafted in the 11th round by the Detroit Tigers, Chase Simpson was drafted in the 14th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tyler Baker was drafted in the 15th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Seven Shocker signees were also drafted. Chase Rader was taken in the 16th round by the Detroit Tigers, Isaac Anderson was taken in the 19th round by the Cincinnati Reds, Sam Hilliard was taken in the 31st round by the Minnesota Twins, Storm Rynard was taken in the 34th round by the Texas Rangers, Chase Williams was taken in the 37th round by the Miami Marlins, Keenan Eaton was taken in the 39th round by the Philadelphia Phillies and Taylor Sanagorski was taken in the 39th round by the Detroit Tigers.

Ladwig, a junior pitcher from Omaha, Neb., went 3-6 with a 1.54 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 105 innings pitched in 2014. He earned first team all-Valley honors.

Simpson, a junior third baseman from Flower Mound, Texas, hit .258 with 28 runs, 54 hits, 14 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 41 RBI. He earned second team all-Valley honors.

Baker, a junior catcher from Topeka, Kan., hit .230 with 22 runs, 45 hits, eight doubles, two triples, three home runs and 18 RBI. He also threw out 22 of 45 base stealers in 2014. He earned second team all-Valley honors and was named to the Valley all-defense team at catcher.
