NORMAN, Okla. – The Wichita State softball team (22-17) fell 3-0 and 9-1 against No. 13 Oklahoma (30-8) in a doubleheader Tuesday night at Marita Hynes Stadium.

Cacy Williams went 4-for-7 on the day with two doubles, lifting her overall batting average to a team-high .390, while Paige Mason hit 2-for-2 in game two and Paige Luellen went 2-for-5 in the midweek series.

Game One: Oklahoma 3, Wichita State 0

Oklahoma struck first with three runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two RBI double to center, bringing in the third run on a bases loaded walk to take the 3-0 lead.

Jenni Brooks replaced Sloan Anderson in the third after Anderson struck out two, allowing five hits and three runs in two innings.

The Shockers put runners at the corners in the fifth inning, threatening to score but the Sooner defense proved too much as Wichita State fell 3-0 in the first game.

Anderson (8-11) was recorded with the loss in game one, allowing three runs in two innings, giving her a 3.90 ERA on the season.

Williams hit 2-for-4 with a double and five putouts, while Brittany Fortner went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk in the loss. Fortner's double brings her season total to 10, placing her third on the team behind Melanie Jaegers (11).

Game Two: Oklahoma 9, Wichita State 1

Paige Luellen hit a leadoff single to left center in the second inning, advancing to third on a SAC bunt by Broyles and scoring on a throwing error by Oklahoma to give Wichita State an early 1-0 lead.

The Sooners responded in the bottom half of the inning, putting runners on the corners before hitting a homerun to left center to take the 3-1 lead.

Oklahoma added four runs in the third inning, scoring on a bases loaded walk and a two RBI double to left field to give the Sooners a 7-1 advantage.

Oklahoma hit back-to-back singles in the fourth inning to put the Sooners in scoring position before Leslie Miller hit a two RBI double down the right field line to give Oklahoma the 9-1 victory over Wichita State.

Katie Malone (12-5) picked up the loss for the Shockers, pitching two innings and allowing two hits, three runs and two walks, striking out one in the loss.

Wichita State is next in action when it hosts Northern Iowa for a weekend series, beginning with a doubleheader Sat., April 12 at 12 p.m.
