WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State softball team has been voted eighth in the annual Missouri Valley Conference softball preseason coaches poll, announced Jan. 22 by the league office.
The Shockers accumulated 33 points in the poll. Northern Iowa was picked first in the poll with 100 points and a unanimous 10 first-place votes, while Illinois State finished second with 83 points and Drake followed close behind with 82 points.

The Shockers open play on Fri., Feb. 7 against Houston Baptist at the Lady Techster Invitational in Ruston, La.
