WBB: WSU to Host IPFW in Preseason WNIT

6/20/2013 12:10:00 PM

Wichita State will face IPFW in the opening round of the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).  The Shockers will host the Mastodons on Friday, Nov. 8 at 12:05 p.m.

Second round games will follow on Nov. 10-11, with locations and times determined after first round results.  A win for the Shockers would put them up against the winner of Stetson at Oklahoma.

The sixteen-team tournament continues with the semifinals on Nov. 14 and the finals, televised nationally in HD on CBS Sports Network, at 3 p.m. CT on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The Shockers set a school record with 24 wins while advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time last season.  The IPFW Mastodons return the bulk of a team that finished 13-17, including Summit League Player of the Year, Amanda Hyde.

Teams participating in the Preseason WNIT are guaranteed three games.  The consolation bracket will be drawn up after first round games are completed to maximize geographic matchups.  All games are hosted by participating schools.

The Preseason WNIT began in its modern format in 1994.  It is organized and produced by Triple Crown Sports, a national sports event company based it Fort Collins, Colo.  For more information on the WNIT, please visit: www.womensnit.com.
