Box Score WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State used a 10-run seventh inning
to defeat Texas-Pan American 15-8 in game three of the series.
Casey Gillaspie went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a grand slam,
while Tanner Dearman went 4-for-4 with three RBI and a double.
The Broncs used three Shocker errors to score three runs in
the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead.
Tanner Dearman led off the third with a double down the left
field. He moved to third on a grounder and scored on a sacrifice fly from
Taylor Doggett to cut the lead to 3-1.
UTPA added another unearned run in the fourth to increase
the lead to 4-1, but the Shockers got it back in the bottom of the fourth.
Garrett Bayliff led off with a walk, moved to second on a two-out walk to
Parker Zimmerman and scored on a single from Dearman to make the score 4-2.
The Shockers took the lead with three runs in sixth. Erik
Harbutz led off with a single and after Dayne Parker was hit by a pitch, Parker
Zimmerman's bunt single loaded the bases with nobody out. Dearman singled to drive in Harbutz and after
a double play ball brought home Parker, Doggett singled to give the Shocks a
5-4 lead.
The Broncs used five hits in the top of the seventh to score
four runs and go back in front 8-5, but the Shockers answered in a big way in the
bottom of the seventh. WSU scored 10 runs to start the inning before recording
an out. The highlight of the inning was a grand slam from Gillaspie for the
15-8 lead.
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., March 12 against
North Dakota at 3 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
