Box Score WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State scored eight runs on 12 hits
and Cale Elam struck out a career-high eight in an 8-1 win over Texas-Pan
American.
Elam went six innings and gave up one run on two hits with
two walks and eight strikeouts. Taylor
Doggett went 4-for-5 with an RBI, while Tyler Baker and Garrett Bayliff each
drove in two.
The Broncs used a walk, a wild pitch and two ground outs to
score a run in the first, but the Shockers answered with four runs in the
third. Dayne Parker and Tanner Dearman both singled with one out and Parker
scored on a two-out single from Taylor Doggett to tie the score at one. After a walk to Casey Gillaspie loaded the
bases, Tyler Baker worked a walk to drive in Dearman for a 2-1 lead. Garrett Bayliff then singled to left field to
drive in two more for a 4-1 lead.
WSU tacked on another run in the fifth. Doggett led off with
a single and scored on a double from Gillaspie to make the score 5-1.
Doggett led off the seventh with a double, moved to third on
a grounder from Gillaspie and scored on a sac fly from Baker for a 6-1 lead.
The Shockers added two more in the eighth for the 8-1 win.
