WICHITA, Kan.- The No. 71 Wichita State men's tennis team
will take on Newman University on Wednesday, March 6 at Genesis Health Club.
Newman (1-4) is coming off a 9-0 loss to Washburn on Sunday.
Jeff Wherritt and Mitchel Whitmer have both gathered two singles victories on
the season for the Jets. Freddy Sanchez and Nei Dos Santos have a record of 2-2
on the season in doubles play.
Wichita State (8-3) has won six out of their last seven
matches, including a pair of 7-0 victories over Washburn and Oral Roberts last
weekend. Alvaro Gutierrez has won five straight singles matches while Tin
Ostojic, Matheus Pereira and Erick Reyes have each won four straight.
Ostojic and Pereira are 9-1 on the season as a team in
doubles play and Pereira has an outstanding 19-5 mark in doubles contests he
has played in on the season.
