ATHENS, Ga.- Wichita State women's tennis player Lutfiana
Budiharto fell to Petra Niedermayerova of Kansas State, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, in the
first round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship on Wednesday
afternoon.
The two players split the first two sets before
Niedermayerova took the third and final set to move onto the second round.
"Petra did a great job to play well in the big moments,"
said head coach Colin Foster. "Lutfi fought hard and played very well. In the
end, Petra was a little too good."
Budiharto, a senior from Jakarta, Indonesia, ends her career
as one of the most prolific Shocker tennis players ever. Her 108 singles
victories put her in a tie for second place on the all-time wins list.
"Lutfi has had an incredible career and should be very proud
to qualify for this event and proud of the way she played," said Foster.
