Ariz.- Wichita State fell to defending national champion Arizona
State, 11-0, in five innings Thursday night. The game precedes the
Wilson/DeMarini Invitational where the Shockers will play five more games
beginning with a 10 a.m. (CST) game with Howard.
Against Arizona State, the Shockers fell victim to a
dominate pitching performance from Sun Devil sophomore Mackenzie Poescue.
Popescue threw her first career no-hitter striking out four Shockers.
Senior shortstop Katelyn Boyd paced the Sun Devils at the
plate hitting a pair of home runs, collecting three RBI and scoring three runs.
The Shockers lone base runner of the game came on a second
inning leadoff walk by junior Sammie Shook. Shook then stole second to mount
the Shockers only scoring chance of the game.
Following the 10 a.m. (CST) game against Howard the Shockers will
take on North Dakota State at 3 p.m (CST).
