The Bears took a 7-5 lead early in the game, but that marked the last time the Shockers trailed on the scoreboard. Smith free throws tied the score and a Stutz three-pointer gave the Shockers the lead in front of a home crowd of 10,506.

Missouri State tied the game, 32-32, on a layup from Michael Bizoukas, which capped a 10-0 Bear run. A foul on Bizoukas in the closing seconds of the half sent David Kyles to the free-throw line. Kyles connected on both attempts to give the Shockers a 34-32 edge at the half.

Stutz led all players with 12 first-half points and six rebounds. Smith added seven points as the Shockers shot 60 percent in the first half (12-of-20). Caleb Patterson posted nine points for Missouri State.

A Stutz tip-in, followed by a Stutz drunk and Demetric Williams' three-pointer opened the second period for the Shockers and gave Wichita State a nine-point lead.

A shot by Isaiah Rhine brought the Bears within two points less than five minutes into the second half. The Shockers responded with threes from Williams and Kyles. A Kyles' layup gave Wichita State a 10-point lead as part of an 8-0 run.

Kyles' second-half offensive surge continued. His trey, followed by a floating jumper, pushed the Shockers ahead by 14 points.

Back-to-back threes from Ragland and Stutz gave the Shockers a 64-47 lead.

A Smith block led to a Ragland layup at the other end of the court for a 68-51 lead with about three minutes to go. A Smith three-pointer, followed his two free throws less than one minute later, gave the Shockers their largest lead of the game (19 points).

Wichita State won for the 13th time in 14 games and improved to 14-1 at home.
