Box Score WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State senior Garrett Stutz recorded
a double-double and tied senior David Kyles for a game-high 16 points as the
Shockers picked up a 78-41 win against Bradley Friday at Charles Koch Arena.
Stutz finished with a game-high 13 rebounds. Senior Toure' Murry
led the Shockers with six assists, all in the first half, in front of a crowd
of 10,335.
Wichita State entered the game in a tie for first place in
the Missouri Valley Conference standings and improved to 14-3 overall and 5-1
in conference play.
Bradley's (5-13, 0-6) losing skid extended to nine games, as
the Shockers picked up their fourth-straight win.
Forward Taylor Brown paced Bradley with 14 points and eight
rebounds.
The Shockers jumped out to an early 8-0 lead early in the
game's first five minutes.
Stutz and Demetric Williams teamed up to score the Shockers' first 16
points of the game. Stutz reached double figures for the sixth time in seven
games before the halfway mark of the opening period.
Wichita State held a 20-12 lead with about eight minutes
remaining in the half. Bradley cut
the Shocker lead to four points at the 4:10 mark, but Wichita State went on to
build on its lead throughout the remainder of the game.
Stutz led the Shockers with 12 points and five rebounds in
the first half. Kyles followed closely with 11 points, as the Shockers shot 59 percent as a team.
A Carl Hall layup, and the free throw that followed, at the
15:40 mark pushed the Shockers ahead, 48-29.
A dunk by Kyles, assisted by Stutz, gave Wichita State a
20-point lead with 13 minutes remaining in the game. Kyles' three-pointer later
pushed the Shockers ahead, 55-34.
A jumper followed by three-pointer from Ben Smith - his
first five points of the night - gave the Shockers a 26-point edge.
Williams' turnaround jumper put the Shockers ahead by 30
points in the final five minutes.
The lead extended to 37 on Jake White's three-pointer with
85 seconds remaining.
The Shockers came close to tying their winning margin from
the two teams' first meeting of the season. The Shockers beat Bradley, 90-51, Dec.
28 in their Valley opener in Peoria, Ill.
Wichita State has now won 12 of its last 13 games.
The Shockers next travel to play at Indiana State at 7 p.m.
