St. Louis, Mo. - The Wichita State men's tennis team defeated the Creighton Bluejays, 4-0 on Friday afternoon in the first round of the 2011 State Farm MVC Tennis Championhip.

The Shockers clinched the doubles point with Guillermo Nicol/Vlad Marinescu's win in the No. 2 doubles match against Kyle Obermeier/Sean Mathison, 8-3.

"We really got after it today in the doubles and played some good tennis," head coach Brad Louderback said.  "We are looking forward to moving on to the semifinals against Illinois State tomorrow."

In singles, Matheus Pereira clinched the match for the Shockers with his 6-0, 6-3 win against J.T. Christian in the No. 2 match.

Wichita State will advance to face Illinois State on Saturday in the semifinals at 9 a.m.  You can follow the action live at the link above.
