WICHITA, Kan.-- Junior women's basketball student-athlete Haleigh Lankster is the WSU Athlete of the Week for the week of Mar. 7, 2011. Lankster continued her end-of-season tear with 21 points in the regular season finale at Evansville and a team-high 12 points in a balanced scoring attack at Southern Illinois. Her work led the Shockers to a road sweep at UE and SIU, giving Wichita State a season-long five-game winning streak and also giving WSU double-digit wins in MVC competition for the first time since the 1999-00 season. Lankster's 12 points at SIU came in just 24 minutes and included a 4-for-4 effort at the free throw line, along with two assists, two steals, and a blocked shot. At Evansville, the junior delivered 21 points – her fourth 20+ effort of the year – with six rebounds. She added two three-pointers, giving her 95 for career, the sixth-best total in school history. Lankster also passed the 900-point plateau on Saturday is the Shockers' active scoring leader with 917 career points.
