Lawrence, Kan. - Playing in the WNIT for the first time in more than a decade, Wichita State could not contain the inside game of Kansas and took a 79-58 defeat Wednesday night.  Jessica Diamond scored 18 points to lead the Shockers.

Wichita State's season ends with a 17-15 record and is part of the second-highest two-year win total in school history.  The Shockers visit to the WNIT was the first for the school since 2000. 

Kansas never trailed, though junior Haleigh Lankster almost single-handedly kept the Shockers close early.  Lankster poured in nine of the team's first 11 points, keeping the Shockers within 15-11 during the game's first five minutes.  The Jayhawks did not miss a field goal until the 12:47 mark in the first half and ended up shooting 62% (31-of-50) for the game. 

 All-Big 12 first-teamer Carolyn Davis led the way for KU with 33 points on 14-of-15 shooting.  She also grabbed 12 rebounds.  Point guard Angel Goodrich contributed 10 points, nine rebounds, and five steals with only three turnovers.

Diamond sparkled with 18 points on 9-of-19 shooting.  She turned the ball over just once in 36 minutes.  Lankster finished with 13 points but left the game early due to injury.  Jazimen Gordon led the team with nine rebounds. 

Senior Morgan Boyd scored the Shockers' final basket on a layup with 14 seconds remaining.
