Wichita State fought hard but dropped a tough match to the No. 65 Arkansas
Razorbacks, 5-2 on Wednesday night at the Billingsley Tennis Center on the
campus of the University of Arkansas.
The doubles duos of Vlad
Marinescu/Adrian Chermaci and Vlad Marinescu/Guillermo Nicol each battled hard
for the Shockers but both dropped 8-5 decisions. Matheus Pereira/David Cavalcanti continued their strong
spring season earning their 14th victory together. Their only defeat this spring came at
the hands of the #32 ranked duo of Mihov/Siributwong of Oklahoma University.
In singles, Guillermo
Nicol defeated Gregoire Lehmann, 7-6(7-3), 3-6, 1-0(4) in a closely contested
#4 match. Valentin Mihai earned
the Shockers other win with his defeat of Matt Walters, 6-2, 6-2 in the #5
match.
Next action for the
Shockers will be a match against Idaho on Wed., Mar. 24 followed by the Boise
State Tournament on March 25-26.
