- The Wichita State Shockers (4-3) were defeated by the No. 27 Tulsa Golden
Hurricane (9-3), 6-1 in a match played at the Case
Tennis Center
on the campus of Tulsa
University.
David Cavalcanti and Matheus Pereira defeated the No. 53
ranked doubles duo of Grant Ive and Alastair Barnes, 9-8 to take one of the
doubles matches for WSU.
In singles, the Shockers battled but fell short in five of
the matches against the highly ranked Golden Hurricane team. Guillermo Nicol won a tough, three-set match
against Barnes of Tulsa, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
Cavalcanti lost a hard fought three-set match to No. 117 Japie De Klerk,
6-4, 3-6, 11-9 in the No. 3 match.
Next action for the Shockers will be Saturday, March 5 when
they host Cowley County
at 10 a.m. and Bethany
College at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played at Sheldon
Coleman Tennis Complex on the Wichita
State campus.
