Former
Wichita State women's basketball student-athlete Tisharria Huggins was killed
Monday night in a car accident south of Pittsburg, Kan. Huggins was a
four-year starter for the Shockers from 2000-04 and was in her first year as a
graduate assistant coach at Pittsburg State University.
"We
are all deeply saddened to have lost a member of the Shocker family," said
Director of Athletics Eric Sexton. "Tisharria was an excellent
example of what a student-athlete and graduate should be and she will be sorely
missed. Our thoughts and prayers
go out to her family and colleagues at Pittsburg State."
"You
are never prepared to lose one of yours," said Head Women's Basketball Coach
Jody Adams. "Our deepest sympathy
goes out to the Huggins family and all of her former teammates at this
difficult time."
Huggins
started 95 games and played in 112 during her 4-year career at Wichita
State. She ranks 16th
in career scoring, second in career 3-point field goals, fifth in career
assists and sixth in career steals.
Huggins
was 29 years old. Arrangements are
pending.
