WICHITA - Wichita State
University senior Haleigh Lankster was named to the CollegeSportsMadness.com
pre-season All-Missouri Valley Conference first team. Lankster produced one of the most decorated seasons in
recent Shocker history last year.
"It is exciting to see
Haleigh receive recognition from the national media," head coach Jody Adams
said. "She showed tremendous growth last year both as a player and a
leader and I expect she will build on that growth for a tremendous senior
season."
Lankster earned all-MVC
second team recognition from the league last year. She also landed on the all-defensive team and became the
first Shocker in a decade to be included on the all-tournament team. Her 13.3 points per game led the team
as did her 66 steals. She
significantly improved her field goal percentage (.459) and rebounding numbers
(4.5 rpg) from previous seasons, as well.
Joining Lankster on the
first team are UNI's Jacqui Kalin, who will miss the season due to injury,
Missouri State's Casey Garrison and Christiana Shorter and Indiana State's
Shannon Thomas.
