WICHITA - Wichita State University head women's basketball
coach Jody Adams and WSU First Lady Shirley Beggs announce the "Color Me Pink
Luncheon", in conjunction with the Shockers' Nov. 14 game against Louisiana
State, to support breast cancer research.
Nikki Caldwell, head women's basketball coach for LSU and former
national champion player at Tennessee, will be the featured guest.
The luncheon takes place inside Koch Arena at 11:30 a.m. on
Nov. 14 and the $25.00 ticket includes admission to that night's 7:05 p.m. game
against perennial women's college basketball power LSU. Tables of eight can be reserved for
$150.00. All proceeds from the
luncheon go to breast cancer research.
Caldwell is the co-founder of Champions for a Cause, an
organization that sponsors a yearly cross-country motorcycle ride to raise
awareness and funding for breast cancer research. Adams participated in the program for the first time in the
spring. She won a national
championship at Tennessee with Caldwell in 1991.
Mrs. Shirley Beggs is a breast cancer survivor and has been
an aggressive advocate for cancer research. Her involvement in the annual "Pink Zone" game and the local
"Race for the Cure" events are just two examples of her tireless efforts to
defeat the disease.
Tickets are available by calling (316) 978-FANS or by clicking the invitation below and must be
purchased by Monday, Nov. 7.
