After MSU pushed the lead to 12, WSU began to chip away at the lead. Six different Shockers scored baskets in a 14-2 run that tied the game at 27 with 2:21 on the clock.

A pair of free-throws by Weems gave MSU a 31-29 lead heading into the break.

WSU's zone defense frustrated the Bears in the early minutes of the second half. The Shockers turned MSU mistakes into points, going on a 7-0 run to take a 36-31 lead. Minutes later, Laurie went on an 8-0 run to regain the lead for MSU, but Clevin Hannah answered a Justin Fuehrmeyer three-pointer with a three of his own to tie the game at 47.

Cooks heated up from behind the arc, hitting to threes to give the Bears a 56-50 edge with six minutes to play. Down by seven with four minutes to play, the Shockers made another charge at MSU and trailed by just two with 19 seconds to play. That's when Murry pulled off the heroics once again, taking a pass from Hannah and hitting a three-pointer with five seconds remaining.

MSU had a chance to win it, but Laurie's driving layup rolled out and WSU escaped with the 62-61 win.

The Shockers shot 45 percent for the game and dished out 14 assists on 24 baskets. While MSU shot 69 percent from behind the arc the Bears struggled at the free-throw line, making just 10-of-19.
