Wichita State fans can improve their status on list with new policy
WICHITA, Kan. ? The Wichita State University Athletic Department announced recently that fans who currently do not have season tickets for men's basketball will now have the opportunity to participate in the Priority Points system that determines men's basketball seating priority.
“I'm thrilled to know that the demand for season tickets remains high” said Head Coach Gregg Marshall. “This should be an exciting season for our fans, as we will have many new players who have an opportunity to make big contributions to our program.”
Those currently on the waiting list, or those wishing to join the waiting list for men's basketball season tickets, can make a voluntary tax-deductible donation to the Shocker Athletic Scholarship Organization (SASO) to create Priority Points. In addition, prior giving and ticket history will be used to determine total Priority Points for potential season ticket holders.
Points earned will be used to determine ranking within the season ticket waiting list. Priority Points also determine post-season tournament seating, and can still be earned for the upcoming season through gifts made by August 1.
The SASO donation is non-refundable and will be applied to the required contribution should fans have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the 2008-09 season. Fans are not required to make a donation to SASO to stay on the waiting list.
“Since we can't create more seats, we can at least ensure that Shocker fans whose history of contributions to student-athlete scholarships have a better chance of getting seats that become available,” said Eric Sexton, Athletic Director.
For the past two seasons, Shocker men's basketball season tickets have sold out with limited ticket availability on an individual game basis. In addition, WSU has enjoyed 48 consecutive sellouts in Charles Koch Arena.
To learn more about the opportunity to purchase Men's Basketball season tickets, or join the waiting list, please call the WSU Ticket Office at 316/978-3267, or go to the ticket office link on goshockers.com to download the form.
