Becker Named MVC Athlete of the Week

This week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week honor goes to Sarah Becker, a senior on the women's cross country team. This is the second-straight week that Becker has been awarded with the MVC Athlete of the Week honor.

Becker, a Tulsa, Okla., native won her second-straight meet after placing first at the Missouri Challenge this past weekend. Becker ran the 5K race in 18:10.95 and was one of three Shockers to place in the top five to help lead the Shockers to their second-straight team win over host team Missouri. Becker leads The Valley in 5K race times after her J.K. Gold Classic win last weekend in a time of 17:47.64.

The men's and women's cross country teams have the weekend of Sept. 16 off, but will return to action on Sept. 23 when they travel to Minneapolis, Minn., to compete in the Roy Griak Invitational.
