WICHITA, Kan. — After adding another pair of wins over the weekend, the Wichita State women's tennis team remained No. 28 in Tuesday's ITA rankings.
The Shockers have been ranked in the top 30 for eight weeks this season, including each of the past six. Wichita State has won its last 17 matches, tying the longest winning streak in program history.
Wichita State is the highest-ranked team in the American Conference, ahead of Charlotte (No. 30) and Rice (No. 51). As the top-ranked team in the American, Wichita State earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming American Conference Championship.
The Shockers have wins over six teams — SMU, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Rice and Long Beach State — that appear in this week's ITA rankings.
Additionally,
Xin Tong Wang and
Giorgia Roselli remained No. 34 in doubles, marking their ninth consecutive appearance in the rankings.
Theodora Chantava is ranked No. 92 in singles and has been in the rankings since March 3.
The Shockers will face either No. 9 seed Temple or No. 8 seed UAB in the quarterfinals of the American Conference Championship on Friday at 10 a.m. at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston.
