LUBBOCK, Texas — Wichita State fell 4-0 to No. 10 Oklahoma State on Friday evening at Fall Tennis & Athletic Club in the semifinals of the Lubbock Regional at ITA Kickoff Weekend.
The Shockers (2-2) suffered their 10th straight defeat to Oklahoma State (1-0) and dropped into the consolation match of the Lubbock Regional with the loss.
In doubles, the Cowgirls took a quick advantage with a 6-0 win over
Kristina Kudryavtseva and
Sati Aubakirova at No. 2. Oklahoma State then locked up the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over
Vichitraporn Vimuktananda and
Anne Knuettel at No. 3.
In singles, the Cowgirls remained in firm control, taking the first set on all four active courts.
Knuettel was the first to fall, losing 6-1, 6-1 to No. 12-ranked Rose Marie Nijkamp at No. 3.
Kudryavtseva lost soon after to No. 48-ranked Lucia Peyre 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 to give Oklahoma State a 3-0 lead.
A 6-0, 6-4 victory of
Xin Tong Wang at No. 1 clinched the match, ending the contest with a 4-0 final.
