Eck Ties School Record in Rout of Kansas City

WICHITA, Kan. – Ellee Eck tied a single game school record with three home runs in a 15-2 run-rule win over Kansas City Tuesday afternoon at Wilkins Stadium.

Wichita State (24-21-1) won its 10th straight over the Roos, improving to 42-9 all-time against Kansas City.

Eck became just the fourth Shocker, joining Lauren Mills, Addison Barnard and CC Wong, as the only Shockers to hit three home runs in a single game in program history. She now has three multi-home run games this season, all within the last month. Eck was a perfect 3-for-3 with three home runs and a career-high six RBIs.

Lauren Lucas and Taylor Sedlacek added a home run each in the slugfest. The five home runs tied a season high. Lucas finished 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Sedlacek walked twice to go with her two-run homer.

Camryn Compton doubled and drove in two. Krystin Nelson went 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI and Gabby Scott added an RBI single.

Ava Sliger (6-6) tossed 3.0 shutout innings to record the win, allowing just one hit and no walks.

Wichita State went to work early at the plate, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. Eck led off with her eighth home run of the season, sending the second pitch of the at-bat over the fence in right-center. After a Lucas bunt single and Sedlacek walk, Compton brought them both home on a double off the wall, missing a three-run homer by inches. An RBI single from Scott made it 4-0.

The Shockers tacked on three more in the second on a two-run opposite field home run from Lucas and Sedlacek stealing home as part of a double steal.

A six-run third put the game away to make it 13-0. Nelson's RBI single opened the scoring, and then Eck's second home run, a three-run shot, upped the margin to 11-0. Two batters later, Sedlacek parked a two-run bomb over the wall in left.

Kansas City broke up the shutout in the top of the fourth on an RBI single.

Wichita State got that run back plus one more on Eck's third of the day.
