WICHITA, Kan. -- The Wichita State cheer team has announced tryout dates for the 2025-26 season.
In order to try out for the WSU cheer team, prospective attendees must complete the required reference questionnaire, interview with the current Wichita State coaching staff, and have proof of application to Wichita State University.
Below is a list of recommended skills the team is looking for.
- Tumbling
- Standing 3 BHS
- Standing tuck
- Running RO BHS layout
- Running whip pass
- Working fulls
- Stunting
- Coed
- Toss immediate lib full to feet
- Working elite skills to full or double downs
- Quad
- Full up full to feet
- Working elite skills to full or double downs
Below is a list of skills the team is looking for in tryouts.
- Intermediate stunt
- Coed- Toss immediate lib full to feet
- Quad- J-up lib full to feet
- Elite stunt Option 1
- Coed- Full up, BHS up, or hand in hand to full down
- Quad- Full up, BHS up, or hand in hand to full down
- Elite stunt Option 2
- Coed- Rewind, BHS full up, hand in hand extended to double down
- Quad- Rewind, BHS full up, hand in hand extended to double down
- Tumbling
- 2 highest standing passes
- 2 highest running passes
- Looking for clean skills that will hit. Also looking for flexibility from flyers and use of good technique from bases.
- Sideline cheer with the use of signs, megaphones, or poms. Must include tumbling or jumping
- Fight song
The cost for tryouts is $20 per athlete and can be made via check, cash, or card.
The dress code for tryouts for females is black spandex shorts, black unmarked sports bra, game-day make-up, and hair in a low pony with a white bow. For males, black shorts and a black unmarked t-shirt, clean, gameday-ready appearance
The dates for the May tryouts are May 2-4, with different routines for each day.

Wichita State cheer is looking for coachable athletes, hard workers, good students, athletes who mesh well with others and who are active in their community, as well as having a clean social media.

here. Attendees must also bring proof of medical insurance with them to tryouts.
