WICHITA, Kan. – Four runs in the top of the sixth inning by the visiting Roadrunners were too much for Wichita State to overcome in a 5-1 loss at Eck Stadium on Sunday afternoon
In the bottom of the first, Josh Livingston gave Wichita State their first lead of the weekend series with a towering two-out solo home run to right field for a 1-0 advantage.
In the fourth, UTSA broke through against Shocker starter Brady Hamilton with an RBI single up the middle to tie the game at 1-1.
Two innings later, the 'Runners raced in front with four runs in the top of the sixth to take a 5-1 lead.
Neither side was able to score the rest of the way as UTSA claimed a 5-1 victory, sweeping the weekend series.
Hamilton (1-4) suffered the loss in his 5.2 innings of work. Four Shockers recorded hits, headlined by the solo homer from Livingston.
The Shockers are back in action on Tuesday night as they travel to in-state foe Kansas. First pitch from Lawrence is scheduled for 6:00 pm CT.
