WICHITA, Kan. – Power at the plate propelled Wichita State to a 6-1 win over the Central Arkansas Bears on Tuesday evening at Wilkins Stadium.
Sami Hood led the Shockers with a pair of hits, including her fourth home run of the season.
Camryn Compton belted her fourth home run over her last four games and
Lauren Lucas extended her hit streak to 12.

After a scoreless first inning, the visiting Bears struck first with a solo home run off of Wichita State starter
Ryley Nihart, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second.

The Shockers were held off the board for three innings until Compton broke the zero with a no-doubt, two-run shot over the scoreboard, giving WSU a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

In the fifth, the Shocker bats remained warm as Lucas upped the Shocker lead to 3-1 with an RBI double down the line, and
Brookelyn Livanec extended the lead with another double, this one scoring two runs, putting the Shockers up 5-1 through five innings.

In the sixth,
Sami Hood added the cherry on top with a solo home run just fair down the left field line, extending the lead to 6-1.

Reliever
Ava Sliger set the Bears down with no trouble in the seventh, closing out a 6-1 Shocker victory.

Sliger (4-3) earned the win in relief, dealing a scoreless 4.1 innings, allowing just two hits with two strikeouts.
