WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State rode a complete game performance from

Â
The Shockers (12-13, 1-4) evened the series with North Texas (19-8, 2-3) with the victory.
Â
For the first time this season, Wichita State scored first against a conference opponent, as
Gabby Scott scored on a sacrifice fly from
Brookelyn Livanec, sneaking underneath the tag at home to give the Shockers a 1-0 lead.
Â
North Texas tied the game right back up with a two-out rally that squeaked a run across in the top of the third.
Â
In the bottom of the third,
Camryn Compton gave the Shockers the lead back with an RBI groundout to put WSU up 2-1 through three innings.
Â
UNT again had the answer, scoring a run on a Shocker miscue to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the fourth.
Â
In the fifth, the Shocker bats found plenty of life, scoring five runs to take a 7-2 lead.
Ellee Eck doubled, then
Lauren Lucas and
Taylor Sedlacek drew walks to load the bases with nobody out. Compton broke the deadlock with an RBI single to right field, scoring Eck. Right after,
Jodie Epperson reached on an error allowing Lucas to score and Scott drove in two with a fierce RBI double to right-center. Later, Livanec reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Scott to score, giving WSU a 7-2 advantage through five innings.
Â
The Shockers did not score the rest of the game, but Sliger shut out the Mean Green the rest of the way, giving Wichita State a 7-2 win.
Â
Sliger slung the ball for a full 7.0 innings, allowing no earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.
