WICHITA, Kan. – A seven-run sixth inning allowed North Texas to rally past Wichita State, 8-6, on Friday evening at Wilkins Stadium.

After neither side scored in the first inning, the Mean Green struck quickly in the second, hitting a solo homer to left-center, taking a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, WSU put together a fantastic inning, scoring four runs on five hits to take the lead.Â

Lauren Lucas singled,
Taylor Sedlacek reached on an error and
Jodie Epperson singled to load the bases for WSU with only one out.
Gabby Scott got the scoring started with an RBI single to score Lucas and Sedlacek came across on a subsequent error to give the Shockers a 2-1 lead.
Brookelyn Livanec made it 3-1 with an RBI single and
Camryn Compton later brought Scott home after reaching on an error, capping off the four-run inning for WSU.

In the fourth, Epperson blasted a two-run homer to left-field that needed no help from the wind, extending the WSU lead to 6-1.

In the sixth, UNT got a rally going off of reliever Shocker reliever
Chloe Barber, hitting a three-run homer to make it a 6-4 game and flush Barber out of the circle. Now facing
Alex Aguilar, the Mean Green continued their hot streak, scoring a run on an RBI single and another on an error to tie the game up 6-6. A two-run triple then gave North Texas an 8-6 lead, which they would not relinquish.

The Shockers got two runners on in the bottom half of the inning, but both were left stranded.Â

Aguilar suffered the loss, falling to 6-3 on the year in her 1.2 innings of work. Eight of nine Shockers recorded a hit, with Lucas, Sedlacek and Epperson all notching two apiece.
