SAN ANTONIO – The Wichita State men's tennis team picked up a pair of victories on Sunday evening, beating the UTSA Roadrunners, 4-2, at UTSA Tennis Center, and defeating the Incarnate Word Cardinals later in the day at Mabry Tennis Center, 4-2.
With the two wins, Wichita State is now 5-5 and has won five matches in a row.

In doubles, UTSA struck first with a 6-2 win over
Ilias Worthington and
Luke Bracks at court three, dealing the pair just their second loss of the year. The Roadrunners clinched the doubles point soon after with a 6-4 win over
Alejandro Jacome and
Kristof Minarik at court one.
In singles, another close match began to brew with tight first sets up and down the lineup, with each team taking three first sets.
The Roadrunners were the first to score in singles, taking down
Zaid Al Mashni 6-1, 6-3 at court six to take a 2-0 lead.
Amir Milushev got the Shockers on the board with a swift 6-2, 6-2 win at court five to cut the deficit in half.
Vanja Hodzic joined his doubles teammate Milushev with a 7-5, 6-3 singles win at court three to tie the match at 2-2.
Later, Worthington put together a 6-4, 7-6 (8) win at court four to put the Shockers in front for the first time, leaving the match to be decided at the top two courts.
Minarik and Jacome both lost their first set but both battled back to win their second sets. Both carried the momentum from their second sets to the third, as each jumped out to a 5-1 lead over their Roadrunner foes. It was Jacome who clinched the win with a 5,7, 6-3, 6-1 decision, ending the match for the Shockers with a 4-2 win.

In the second match of the day for WSU, the Shockers took doubles via 6-3 wins from Jacome and Minarik at court one and Bracks and
Luca Mindrut at court three to take the early lead.
In singles,
Arenui Luethi recorded his first dual match win as a Shocker, a 6-2, 6-3 win at court five to put the Shockers up 2-0.
Later, Worthington added his second win of the day, this one 6-2, 7-5 at court two to put the Shockers up 3-0 and on the brink of victory.
Milushev clinched the win for WSU with a 6-0, 7-6 victory at court three to secure the win for the Shockers.
Next up, the Shockers travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico to face the New Mexico Lobos on March 7 at noon CT.
