ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Wichita State men's tennis team suffered a setback with a 5-2 loss to the New Mexico Lobos on Friday afternoon at Linda Estes Tennis Center.

With the loss, the Shockers (5-6), saw their two-match win streak end, while New Mexico (5-5) snapped their two-match losing skid with the victory.

In doubles, the Lobos dominated, picking up crushing wins at courts one and three to take the doubles point.

In singles, the teams were much more even, but New Mexico kept their foot on the gas, taking three first sets in singles.

Amir Milushev was the first to fall in singles, losing 6-3, 6-1 at court six, putting New Mexico up 2-0.

Kristof Minarik was defeated 6-1, 6-4, putting UNM up 3-0 and on the brink of victory.

Vanja Hodzic staved off the Lobos temporarily with a 6-0, 7-5 win at court three, making the score 3-1.

UNM clinched the win with a tight 6-4, 6-4 win at court five over
Luke Bracks, moving to a 4-1 advantage.

Playing the match out,
Alejandro Jacome lost 3-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (4), at court two, putting UNM up 5-1.

Ilias Worthington ended the match on a strong note for Wichita State, battling back to win 7-5, 1-6, 6-1 to make the final score 5-2 in favor of New Mexico.
