LINCOLN, Neb. -- The #7-ranked Wichita State women's bowling team looks to build off a tournament win at the Mid-Winter Invitational with a trip to Lincoln for the Big Red Invite, hosted by Nebraska at Hollywood Bowl. The competition begins Friday, February 21 and concludes on Sunday, February 23.

The schedule of the tournament is as follows:

• Friday: Five 5-game baker matches. The first four are as scheduled based off the 8-team schedule. The final (5th) match on Friday will be a position round. The position round will be as follows: 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5. The seeds will be based on pinfall through the first four matches.
• Saturday: Four traditional team games. The first three matches will be a continuation of the 8-team schedule and will complete the round robin play. For the final match we will do another position round as follows: (Seeding based on pinfall from the seven matches bowled up to this point) 1 vs. 6, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 8, 4 vs. 5.
• Sunday: Two best-of-seven bracket matches. After the nine games bowled on Friday and Saturday, teams will be seeded 1-8. For the bracket matchups they will be set as follows:
  • Round 1: 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3, 5 vs. 8, 6 vs. 7 (Best 4-of-7 Baker match)
  • Round 2: Winner of 1 vs. 4 versus winner of 2 vs. 3, loser of 1 vs. 4 versus loser 2 vs. 3
  • Winner of 5 vs. 8 versus winner of 6 vs. 7, loser of 5 vs. 8 versus loser of 6 vs. 7

Tournament winner will be the team with the highest per game average for all 3 days of competition.

Baker matches are structured with five players combining to bowl one game, each bowling two frames. Player one bowls frames 1 and 6, player two bowls frames 2 and 7, player three bowls frames 3 and 8, player four bowls frames 4 and 9 and player 5 bowls frames 5 and 10. In traditional matches, five players each bowl an individual game, with all five games added together.

Last time out, the Shockers (60-28) knocked off the #1, #2 and #3-ranked teams in the country to win the 2025 Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The tournament win was Wichita State's second of the spring after claiming the Columbia 300 Saints Invite on February 2.
