A run through a bracket is one of the joys of sports and Shocker volleyball took that seriously in 2023.
Wichita State dominated the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. The Shockers defeated Arkansas State, Tulsa, Drake, Montana State at home before sweeping at UTEP to win the NIVC title.
"This tournament matters, too," setter
Izzi Strand said after the semifinal win over Montana State. "Getting to the championship, and hopefully winning, is kind of a like a 'Hey, we should have been in the NCAA Tournament.' It's still showing everyone we got this."
The Shockers went 26-8, their most wins since the 2017 team went 29-4. WSU's 15-4 AAC record and second-place finish are also the best marks since 2017.
Middle
Natalie Foster earned All-North Region honors with Strand on the honorable mention list. Foster (first team), opposite
Sophia Rohling (first team), middle
Morgan Stout (second team) and Strand (second team) made the All-AAC team.
