SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Led by senior
Blake Lorenz, the Shocker men's golf team finished as tournament runner-up in Missouri State's Twin Oaks Intercollegiate on Tuesday evening.
The Shockers finished in 2nd, ending with a team score of 841 and 11 strokes under-par. Oral Roberts won the team trophy at 18 strokes under-par and Oral Roberts' Jackson Butler and Max Kreikemeier of Missouri State split the individual title with a score of 206, seven strokes under-par.

The Shockers got off to a good start in the opening round, staying around the par mark across the board throughout the round. Even-par finishes for
Michael Winslow and
Lucas Scheufler placed them both in 14th through the opening round.

In round two, the Shockers began on an absolute tear through their first nine holes. Lorenz and
Aston Castillo combined to go nine-under par through the front nine and boosted the Shockers into third place midway through the second round. Darkness would end the day early, forcing the teams to finish the round on Tuesday morning.Â

After the restart, the Shockers remained consistent, picking up where they left off to end up in third place through the second round. Castillo surged into the top-five, while Lorenz jumped into the top-ten.

Competing as an individual,
Adam Balatka thrived in round two. The junior recorded his best collegiate round with a score of 69, two strokes under-par.

Early in round three, the Shockers took control of second place and trailed first place Oral Roberts by as few as four strokes, but some bogeys midway through the round would upend the Shockers and push them back into third place.Â

The Shockers would make a second push for the team title later in the round, pushing back into second place and climbing back within three strokes of the leading Golden Eagles, but the team couldn't quit make up the difference, giving the Shockers the runner-up finish in Springfield.

Lorenz delivered another incredible round. He finished four-under for the second straight round to finish in a tie for third place and just one-stroke behind the individual champions.

The Shockers get a little time away from tournament action before travelling to Maricopa, Arizona, to compete in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic beginning on April 1.
