LUBBOCK, Texas. – The Wichita State men's tennis team will travel to Lubbock, Texas and Lubbock Country Club to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday, January 20, at 1:00 PM Central.
 
SHOCKER NOTES

• The Shockers enter the match 1-2 after opening the year with a trio of matches in Arizona, where they opened the year with a win over Grand Canyon, followed by back-to-back losses to Northern Arizona and Arizona State
• This will be the 10th meeting all-time between the teams.
• The Shockers are searching for their first win in the series as Texas Tech leads 9-0.
• Four Shockers (Alejandro Jacome, Misha Kvantaliani, Vanja Hodzic, Richey King) collected one singles win apiece in last week's action in Arizona.
• Jacome (9-3) and Hodzic (9-5) lead the Shockers in singles wins between the fall and spring seasons.
• Jacome now possesses a 25-9 singles record in collegiate competition.
• King collected his first singles win in a dual match against Grand Canyon since February 2, 2023.

RED RAIDER SCOUTING

• The Red Raiders are led by second year Head Coach Michael Breler who spent the previous three as an assistant coach with the program.
• Breler was the team's interim leader last season and was made the full-time Head Coach on May 12, 2023.
• In fall action, the Red Raiders compiled a 23-26 singles record and a 9-12 record in doubles.
• Senior Reed Collier led the team in singles wins with 8.
• Texas Tech compiled an overall record of 14-11 last year, going 14-11 in Big 12 play.
• The Red Raiders were ranked #33 in the ITA's final poll last season.

ALL-TIME SERIES

• As mentioned, this is the 10th meeting in the all-time series with Texas Tech leading 9-0.
• The teams have met four times in the last three years.
• This is the first meeting in Lubbock since March 5, 2022.
• WSU is 0-3 against Texas Tech in Lubbock.

LAST TIME VS TTU

• In last year's meeting on Feb. 6, Texas Tech claimed a 4-0 victory with a doubles point win, and wins at courts two, five, and six.
• Current Shockers Jacome, Kvantaliani, and Kristof Minarik all took victory in one set before their matches ended unfinished.

LAST MATCH

• The Shockers were defeated 0-4 by Arizona State in their final match in the Grand Canyon State.
