WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State head cross country coach
Kirk Hunter announced the 2023 meet schedule and the debut of the Shockers' new cross country course.

The team will open the season at home with the 75
th Annual J.K. Gold Classic at
Wichita State's brand-new Clapp Cross Country Course on Sept. 2. The women will race in the 5,000 meters, and the men will run the 6,000 meters to break in the new course.

The Shockers will run in three more regular-season races prior to the American Athletic Conference Championships in Greenville, N.C. on Oct. 28, returning to the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational in Lincoln Nebraska, splitting the squad for the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. and the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. and concluding the regular season at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria Ill.

Following the conference meet, the runners will have a weekend off before the NCAA Midwest Regional in Stillwater, Okla. on Nov. 10 and then the NCAA Championships will be held in Charlottesville, Va. the following week.

Wichita State returns three of the six all-conference runners from last season with Adrian Diaz Lopez and
Trey Rios leading the men and
Sarah Bertry being the top female returner.
Miranda Dick also returns for the women after a breakout season in the steeplechase, and head coach
Kirk Hunter is excited about transfers,
Lucy Ndungu and
Adam Rzentkowski making an immediate impact for the Shockers.
