WICHITA, Kan. - For the second time this season the American Athletic Conference has named junior Lauren Howell its Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon.

Howell appeared in two games, making one start and was 2-0 over the weekend to help Wichita State go 4-0 at the Black & Yellow Challenge. The Jefferson City, Mo., native had a sparkling 0.00 ERA in 11.0 innings. She allowed one unearned run on just four hits to go with zero walks and six strikeouts. Opponents had just a .108 batting average against Howell. To open the weekend, Howell threw a complete game, one hitter in the win vs. Bradley on Saturday. She followed that performance with 4.0 strong innings of shutout relief in Wichita State's walkoff win vs. Western Illinois. Howell struck out four in the win out of the bullpen.

Howell is now 7-1 this season with a 1.00 ERA in 42.0 innings.

Additionally, Lainee Brown recorded her first career weekly honor, earning a spot on the American Weekly Honor Roll.

Brown hit .500 over four games with a home run, two doubles, four runs and two RBI. In the opener vs. Western Illinois, she went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI and followed that performance with another 2-for-3 outing against Bradley. She scored twice and doubled in the victory over the Braves. In the final game of the weekend, Brown singled and scored the game-tying run vs. Western Illinois.

Wichita State is scheduled to host top-10 ranked Stanford Thursday before hosting Nebraska and Missouri State for the Shocker Classic, March 10-12 at Wilkins Stadium.
