Blow Named AAC Freshman of the Week, Abies Selected to Honor Roll

WICHITA – Wichita State's
Salese Blow has been named American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week as
Daniela Abies has been selected to the Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday.

The Murphy, Texas native averaged 14.7 points per game and led the Shockers in scoring in two of three contests last week.

Blow scored 19 points in the win over Omaha and a career-high 20 points against Dayton in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Daniela Abies scored a career-high 18 points in back-to-back wins against Omaha and Akron, recording her first career double-double in the latter with 11 rebounds. Abies has scored in double figures for five-consecutive games, most recently tallying 10 points against Dayton. She also recorded three steals against Akron and leads the team in rebounding with 7.2 rebounds per game.

The sophomore from Málaga, Spain leads the conference in offensive rebounds per game and field goal percentage, averaging 4.5 offensive rebounds through the first six games and shooting 60% from the field.

The Shockers return home for a four-game stretch in Charles Koch Arena starting with Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m.
