2022-23 (Freshman): Named to the Spring Athletic Director's Honor Roll... Became the first post player off the bench during conference play... Appeared in 26 games, all off the bench... Averaged 2.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10.2 minutes per game... Seven games with five or more rebounds... Came up huge in the upset of South Florida in the quarterfinals of the AAC Championship with 6 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals and an assist in 13 minutes... Tied a season high with seven rebounds to go with five points at Temple (Feb. 1)... Third straight game with seven rebounds vs. SMU (Jan. 18)... Grabbed seven rebounds and blocked a season-high two shots at UCF (Jan. 15)... Had a breakout game vs. South Florida (Jan. 7) where she played 26 minutes and finished with 14 points, four rebounds and three steals... Scored eight points to go with seven rebounds and two assists vs. South Carolina State (Dec. 27)... Made her collegiate debut on Nov. 9 vs. Alcorn State.
High School: Abies started her prep career with Salesianos San Bartolomé... In 2018, she decided to join the club team Miramar - Alhaurin to further develop as a player... After two years, she joined the best team in her home city, Unicaja Málaga... She spent a significant part of her last two years practicing with the club's first team, which gave her the opportunity to debut in one of the top women's leagues in the country... In 2021, she was selected for the Spanish National Team for the first time... In 2022, she was one of 12 players who competed in the European Championship and fought their way to the final, ultimately winning a silver medal... In 2023, Abies was selected to play in her first World Championship, where she also won the silver medal.
Other: Played for Spain's U19 national team that earned the silver medal at the FIBA World Cup in the summer of 2023. USA won gold.
Personal: Daughter of Greg and Carmen… Has two brothers: Roy and Eric, and one sister, Martina… Major is marketing with a minor in sport management at Wichita State.
