OPENING TIPS
> Wichita State returns to the Ocean Center to face Dayton on day two of the 2023 Daytona Beach Classic.
> The teams are meeting for the first time.
> Wichita State is 5-7 all time when playing on Nov. 25.
> Tre'Zure Jobe and Daniela Abies are averaging 13.2 points per through the first five games, leading the team in scoring.
> Jobe has started all 116 games of her collegiate career including her years at Emporia State.
> Abies is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 6.8 rebounds per game, nearing double-doubles at Belmont with 11 points and 8 rebounds and against
Oklahoma with a career-high 18 points and 8 rebounds and finally getting her first career double-double against Akron with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
> Abies leads the conference in offensive rebounds per game (4.2) and is ranked second in the conference in field goal percentage (59.5%).
> The Shockers are 3-0 in games they were not out-rebounded.
> Wichita State ranks in the top 100 nationally in the following categories: No. 25 in three-point percentage defense (21.7), No. 73 in bench points per game (25.5), No. 86 in turnover margin (+4), and No. 93 in turnovers per game (14.8).
> The Shockers are ranked third in the American Athletic Conference in three-point percentage defense and fourth in scoring offense (71.8).
> First-year head coach Terry Nooner has only one returning starter, DJ McCarty.
> Wichita State returns just 34.7 percent of its scoring from a season ago, having lost its top two leading scorers and three other triple-digit point scorers. Trajata Colbert and Curtessia Dean exhausted their eligibility, and three of the top six scorers departed through the transfer portal.
> Wichita State has only two true freshmen on the roster in Salese Blow (Texas) and Sophia Goncalves (California).
> Blow has scored 9, 9, 8, 19 and 5 points in her first five collegiate games, getting her first collegiate start at Belmont.
> Sierra Morrow has yet to make her Shocker debut as she awaits the NCAA's decision on her transfer waiver.

SCOUTING DAYTON
> Led by third-year (second at Dayton) head coach Tamika Williams, Dayton (3-3) is coming off their second-straight win as they defeated Stetson 75-54 on day one of the Daytona Beach Classic.
> Two Flyers are averaging double-digit scoring with Destiny Bohanon leading the team with 12.7 points per game and Ivy Wolf averaging 12 points per game.
> Arianna Smith is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 10.6 rebounds per game.
> Dayton is ranked 23rd in the nation in offensive rebounds per game with 17.
> Akron was picked ninth of 15 teams in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
> The Zips currently tie for 10th in their conference standings at 3-3.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. DAYTON
> The two teams will meet for the first time.

NON-CONFERENCE NOTABLES
• Wichita State faces three first-time foes in the non-conference docket, Presbyterian, Belmont and Dayton.
• The Shockers opened their season against No. 23 Oklahoma.
• Belmont (MVC) and Southeastern Louisiana (Southland) were picked to win their respective leagues.
• The Shockers' play two games against teams that finished inside the Top 50 of last year's NCAA NET Rankings (Kansas – 30 and Oklahoma – 38).

LAST TIME OUT
> Daniela Abies' first career double-double led Wichita State past Akron, 63-61, despite a strong fourth-quarter rally by the Zips Friday morning at the Daytona Beach Ocean Center.
> Abies led the team with a career high-tying 18 points and a career-high 11 rebounds as the Shockers improved to 3-2, their first time above .500 on the season.
> Abies' double-double was the first double-double of the season for the Shockers.
> Jayla Murray recorded a season-high and Division I career-high 12 points and 6 rebounds, and Jeniah Thompson shot 3-for-4 from three to score 11 points off the bench.
> Wichita State forced 14 turnovers in the first half with six steals from Tre'Zure Jobe, leading to 12 Shocker points off turnovers.
> The Shockers held off an 11-1 run by the Zips to open the fourth quarter despite struggling from the free throw line. Akron shot 10-for-14 (71.4%) to score 31 points in the final quarter, more than their entire first half point total.
> Wichita State won the battle of the boards 35-34 with 19 offensive rebounds, nine of which came from Abies.
> The Shockers forced 25 turnovers to win the turnover battle for the fourth time in five games, committing 17 themselves.
> Wichita State tallied 12 assists, its second most of the season as Jobe tied for a game-high four.
> The Shockers' 15 steals were the most since February, 2020.
