Box Score 2 The Wichita State men's tennis team collected eight wins across two tournaments as half the squad played in the Hilltop Fall Invitational in Dallas, Texas and the rest of the Shockers took on the Drake Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa.

Kristof Minarik and
Alex Richards made the trip to Dallas to play against athletes from SMU, Oklahoma State and Baylor at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex. Friday's doubles matches did not go the Shockers' way, but Minarik and Richards bounced back on day two, defeating Louis Cloud and Callaway Clark of SMU, 6-4. Richards went on to maintain an undefeated Saturday with two singles victories over Oklahoma State's Leighton Allen, 6-2, 7-5, and Baylor's Justin Braverman, 0-6, 6-2, 6-4. On Sunday, Minarik closed out the tournament with the Shockers' lone day three win as he defeated SMU's Blaine Hovenier, 6-4, 6-1.

DRAKE INVITE
Zach Grueber,

Orel Ovil and
Jaydn Richardson traveled north to Des Moines to go up against players from North Dakota, Omaha, Creighton, Gustavus Adolphus, Marquette, Iowa Central CC and Augustana/SD. Ovil and Kvantaliani went 2-0 in doubles, beating opponents from North Dakota (8-7(3)) and Omaha (7-6(5)). Ovil also claimed a singles win on Friday, defeating Creighton's Casey Ross, 6-7(4), 6-3, 1-0 [10-7].
Zach Grueber picked up the Shockers' only other singles win with his victory over Marquette's Tin Krstulovic, 6-4, 6-0.

Wichita State is back in action Oct. 1-9 for the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
