GREENVILLE, N.C. - Sophomore
Addison Barnard added another honor to her decorated season Thursday with the announcement of being named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team.
This is the first CoSIDA academic honor for Barnard, becoming the first Shocker to earn All-District honors since
Madison Perrigan in 2020. The 2022 American Player of the Year is majoring in health science and has a 3.73 cumulative GPA.
The Beatrice, Neb., is having a historic season on the field for Wichita State. She currently leads the nation in home runs (32), RBI (82) and total bases (168) to go with a .417 batting average and 25 stolen bases. She is the only player in the country with at least 20 home runs and 20 steals. Barnard is a three-time NFCA National Player of the Week and four-time American Player of the Week.Â
The 2022 Academic All-District Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. First-Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.

Wichita State is in District 7, which includes NCAA Division I schools in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. Barnard joins South Florida's Georgina Corrick as the only two student-athletes from the American Athletic Conference.
