WICHITA, Kan. – South Dakota State snapped Wichita State's five-game winning streak with a 4-2 win in game two of a three-game series.
Starter
Payton Tolle went 6.2 innings and gave up two earned runs on seven hits with three walks and a career-high eight strikeouts.
Andrew Stewart went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Shockers.
The Jackrabbits used a Shocker error to get on the board in the second inning. Ryan McDonald led off with a single to centerfield and then moved to third on a Shocker error. McDonald scored on a groundout from Dawson Perry to give SDSU an early 1-0 lead.
The Shockers tied the game in the bottom of the fifth.
Xavier Casserilla was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and moved to second on a ground ball. An infield single from
Gage Williams moved Casserilla to third and he scored on a Jackrabbit error to tie the score at one.
SDSU used two doubles and two walks to take a 3-1 lead in the seventh.
WSU cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh after Casserilla scored on a wild pitch.
The Jackrabbits used a two-out RBI single from Luke Ira in the eighth to go in front 4-2.
The Shockers and Jackrabbits wrap up the series on Sun., March 13 at 1 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
