WICHITA, Kan. - No. 33/32 Wichita State heads to the AAC Men's Tennis Tournament as the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 Memphis in the first round on Thursday at 7:30 a.m., CT, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
 
Shocker Notables

• The senior duo of Marius Frosa and Murkel Dellien came in at No. 39 in the ITA Doubles Rankings. This is their 14th overall appearance in the rankings. The duo is 9-3 on the season and 5-0 at home. They have a ranked win over No. 29 Trey Hilderbrand / Bogdan Pavel of then No. 9 UCF and one over now No. 18 Oscar Cutting/David Stevenson of then No. 22 Memphis.
• The Shockers came in at No. 33 in the latest ITA Team Rankings and No. 32 in the coaches' poll. Their wins include knocking off No. 22 Memphis, No. 28 Pepperdine, No. 45 Denver, and SMU twice.
• Murkel Dellien is on fire right now, having won 11 singles matches in a row. He is ranked No. 35 in the latest ITA rankings, the highest ranking for a Shocker since Tin Ostojic was No. 26 in 2015.
• Six of Dellien's wins have come at the top spot and four of them were versus ranked opponents, including No. 4 Gabriel Decamps of UCF and No. 29 Hamish Stewart of then No. 24 Tulane.
• Five Shockers have ten or more singles wins on the season: Nicolas Acevedo, Murkel Dellien, Marius Frosa, Ray Lo, and Orel Ovil.
• The Shockers are unbeaten at home in nine tries.

 
Scouting the Competition
 
Memphis

• The Tigers enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed with a 9-7 record and a No. 33 ITA ranking.
• They have two ranked singles players, No. 60 James Story (7-5) and No. 101 David Stevenson (7-8), and a ranked duo of No. 18 Stevenson/Oscar Cutting (8-6)
• The two teams met in March and the Shockers picked up the win, 5-1.
