Nicolas Acevedo's trip to the singles quarterfinals and
Ray Lo and
Alex Richards' doubles success highlighted the Shockers' weekend in Lincoln, Neb. at the ITA Central Region Championships.

Acevedo's first-round bye set him up for a round-of-64 match against Drake's Matt Clegg on Thursday, where he won, 6-1, 6-1, to move on to the round of 32. He carried that momentum into his Friday match, defeating Nebraska's Shunya Maruyama, 3-6, 7-5, 6-0. Acevedo moved on to the round of 16 and took down the No. 4 seed in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) to move on the quarterfinals, where he fell to Arkansas' Aleksa Bucan.

Luka Mrsic also picked up a pair of singles wins before dropping a match to Alex Martinez of Oklahoma in the round of 16.

Lo and Richards experienced doubles success, knocking off two Nebraska teams to snag a spot in the quarterfinals where they dropped to the No. 2 seed duo of Nathan Han and Alex Martinez from Oklahoma.

Orel Ovil and
Zach Grueber also picked up a pair of doubles wins, defeating teams from Nebraska-Omaha and Oklahoma to make it into the round of 16.

The Shockers are back in action Thursday, Nov. 4-7 for the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, Calif.
