Yellow Powers Up to Take Series Lead

10/13/2021 5:30:00 PM

WICHITA, Kan. – Seth Stroh homered twice as part of a 16-hit attack, and the Yellow Team seized game three of the Fall World Series with a 12-6 win over the Black Team on Wednesday afternoon at Eck Stadium. Yellow has now taken a 2-1 lead in the five-game series.

Xavier Casserilla got the scoring started for Yellow with a first inning solo home run, part of a four-hit day for the freshman third baseman. Stroh made it 3-0 with his first long ball of the day in the second, a two-run shot off Black Team starter Caden Favors.

Black tied things up in the bottom of the second on two RBI singles and a run-scoring wild pitch, but a sacrifice fly from Chuck Ingram in the top of the third gave Yellow a lead they would not relinquish. Casserilla's three-run double in the fourth blew the game open, then Payton Tolle and Stroh launched back-to-back solo shots in the fifth for good measure.

Yellow Team starter Austin Wallace earned the win, allowing three runs over four innings of work with four strikeouts, and Conner Holden picked up the save by dancing around a bases loaded jam in the sixth.

Brock Rodden and Janson Reeder led the way for the Black Team with two-hit games in a losing effort.

The series resumes with game four on Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM.
