Women’s Tennis Opens Season on the Road

WICHITA, Kan. - The Shockers begin their 2021 season with a match versus Missouri State tomorrow at 1:00 p.m., in the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
 
Shocker Notables
  • The senior duo of Marta Bellucco and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva came in at No. 23 in the ITA Preseason Doubles Rankings. This is their fourth straight appearance in the rankings and highest appearance yet.
  • This is the first meeting between the two teams since the Shockers left the Missouri Valley Conference. The Shockers hold a 24-8 all-time record.
  • The Shockers return five players from last year's squad, including co-singles wins leader Bellucco and sixth position mainstay Ting-ya Hsu.

  • The Bears will also be competing in their first match of the season.
  • MSU is welcoming a new coach in Hannah Keeling. She comes from Georgia Gwinnett College, where she was an assistant coach and helped guide them to a NAIA championship last year.
 
Up Next
The Shockers open their home slate on Feb. 2 versus Newman at 11:00 a.m. The home stand continues on Feb. 5 versus Iowa State at 1:00 p.m., and Feb. 7 at 9:00 a.m. versus Louisville. These home matches will be played at the Wichita Country Club.
