DALLAS - Wichita State men's tennis picked up three early wins in singles to clinch a victory versus SMU before the Mustangs made the score competitive, 4-3, at the SMU Tennis Center in Dallas.
 
The Shockers face Utah tomorrow at noon to finish the weekend in Dallas.
 
Doubles
The match started off with a tight set of doubles competition. Stefan Latinovic and Luka Mrsic moved up to face the SMU twos and won their third doubles match in a row by beating Krall/Steinhausen, 6-4.
 
The Mustangs took one back on one by downing Orel Ovil and Nicolas Acevedo, 6-3. When doubles were tied at 1-1, Yi Jui Lo and Marius Frosa were down 4-3 to the Mustang duo of Chakravarthi/Allen. The Shocker duo were able to win the next three games to pick up the doubles point for the away team.
 
Singles
Mrsic set the tone for the Shockers early by picking up a quick win in the six spot, 6-4, 6-2. Acevedo followed with a win versus SMU's No. 4, 7-5, 6-4, and Frosa clinched the match for the Shockers in a drawn out three-set match, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
 
The teams decided to finish out the courts and this is where SMU picked up their points. They won three-set affairs on three and five and picked up a win on one to close out the match.
