Shockers Sweep First Home Matches of the Season

WICHITA, Kan. - The Shockers only dropped a single point on the day to earn victories over Oral Roberts, 7-0, and Omaha, 6-1, on Saturday at Genesis Health Club.

Quotes from the Coach
Head Coach Danny Bryan
"It was a good day for us. Against Oral Roberts, I felt like we were really focused. The guys executed; they didn't let up on a lot of courts. Some of those matches could have been way closer, but we did a good job of just staying focused and playing the next point. So that was a really good match for us. And then against Omaha, we knew going in that they had really good doubles. They beat Arkansas yesterday in doubles. They have a bunch of guys that can serve big. Their number one team is really good. I don't think we handled it as well as we could have, but I told the guys in between singles and doubles, that that was what we needed, we needed to get that experience. They brought a lot of energy and we didn't execute perfectly, but I think we'll be better moving forward because of that. Omaha also brought a ton of energy to singles. We had two freshmen play and Ray (Yi Jui Lo) on course five, he hasn't really had too much experience. So, it was really good for them, though. So, you know, we definitely, like most teams, can get a lot better. It's early in the season. To take care of business against Oral Roberts and to then get pushed against Omaha and be able to come through, it was overall a really good day."
